Abstract
In this article, based on a brief fragment extracted from the television series Dr. House, we propose to reflect on the possible ethical problems that clinical records may bring to psychologists. We shall consider, from an ethical viewpoint, the responsibility of psychologists with regard to the writing and storing of clinical cases.
First, we shall briefly consider the nature of this legal document and then we shall establish the specificities that clinical documentation acquires in the field of Mental Health, especially as of the new legislation in Argentina. Thus we shall survey certain ethical deontological aspects that could become dilemmatic in the field of psychology, and we shall also propose taking into consideration the dimension of the rights and the dimension of the singular case.
This article is part of the research plan: "The function of the psychologist in judicial practices with children and adolescents: ethical questions of the disciplinary dialogue" (UBA Science and Technology), within the framework of a research project UBAS&T (2012 – 2015) Ethical dilemmas in the practice of psychology: the dialogue with other disciplinary discourses within diverse institutional contexts. Exploratory descriptive study based on a quality quantitative research. Director: Prof. Gabriela Z. Salomone
