Abstract
This article is part of Monique David-Menard’s prologue to her book Éloge des hazards dans la vie sexuelle (Harmann, Paris 2011). In the framework of a wide study on the categories of contingency and chance, an analysis is made of the film Les Regrets (Cédic Kahn, France, 2009), introducing a relationship between a man and a woman which, over time, becomes both essential and unsustainable. Around this story, the author develops the conception of psychoanalysis, the object being that ungraspable, derisory and decisive element that circulates around certain sexual relationships and the inadequacy of the words that try to explain them.
