Abstract
This paper deals with the success of one of today’s most popular American comedies, analyzing it from a psychoanalytic perspective. Starting with Jacques Lacan’s principle on the pluralisation of the names of the father, the diversity of identifications and their effects, the characters’ positions are questioned. In the midst of a technological world, four scientists and a woman will gradually find the necessary tools to invent a solution that will allow them to live –their way, of course- a little more from within the world and more in consequence of their wishes..
