Abstract
The name of the series clearly implies that it refers to a family name. The family operates as the S1 of the series, whether it is made to refer to the family in the extended meaning of organized crime and mafia culture. or whether it refers to the family in the proper sense of the term. Dr. Melfi, in the very first session with Tony, driven by her therapeutic interest to help, pins Tony in his S1, but she will later be drawn into the logic of the series and the second season shows the decadence of a treatment devoid of all ethics.
Key Words: Mafia | therapy | Lacan | psychoanalysis
